Enchroma Lenses for Color Blindness

EnChroma lenses are special glasses designed to improve color perception for people with inherited red-green color blindness. With this type of color blindness, the eye’s color-detecting cells (called cones) don’t work the way they should. This causes certain shades of red and green to look very similar or “washed together,” making it hard to tell them apart.

How EnChroma Lenses Work

EnChroma lenses use patented spectral notch filters, which selectively block the specific wavelengths that create confusion between red and green hues.

Who They Help Most

EnChroma lenses are designed for the most common types of color blindness:

• Deuteranomaly: difficulty seeing green
• Protanomaly: difficulty seeing red

They are not effective for blue-yellow color blindness or complete color blindness (achromatopsia)
